Lady Chargers rounded up a perfect 6-0 first round of play by beating OCC 59-57

Cypress, CA - The Chargers came out strong taking a quick 10-0 lead aftger 2:30 minute into the game. The Pirates however did not give up that easily, fighting back to take several lead early in the second half. However the Chargers prevailed 59-57 by making some key rebounds and free throws by Sam Soria late in the game. Soria and Sloan Turner scored 18 points each to lead all Chargers (16-7, 6-0.)  The victory kept the Chargers undefeated after the first round of play in the conference and a sole possession in first place.

Lady Chargers continued to stay hot by beating IVC 73-55

Cypress, CA - The Lady Chargers continued their mission in the conference by defeating the Irvine Valley Lasers 73-55. The Lasers (14-8, 3-1) came into the Thorpe house undefeated in conference and only half a game behind the Chargers (15-7, 5-0) and threatening to take over the top spot. The Lasers looked sharp in the first half, exchanging leads. Dominique Santos came off the bench to hit three 3-pointers and IVC was riding with a big momentum. The second half, however was taken over by the Chargers. Sloan Turner continued her diminance in the paint withn 24 points, 6 boards and 4 blocks. Doreen Lopez came off the bench to add 12 points, her second double-digit production in two games.

Mission Viejo, CA - The Chargers held the Gauchos (10-10, 1-2) to under 23% shooting en route to a 69-43 victory. Sloan Turner came up with another brilliant performance of 21 points, 14 boards and 5 blocks. The Chargers (14-7, 4-0) shot only 40% from the floor (25-62), 55% from the free thrown line (16-29) and turned over 28 times, however they out-rebounded Saddleback  61-27. Doreen Lopez came off the bench to contribute 20 points on 8-13 shooting. Karla Roacho-Cota led the Gauchos with 13 pointts and 7 rebounds.

Lady Chargers stayed undefeated in league after victory at RCC

Riverside, CA - The Lady Chargers stayed hot in collecting their fifth straight victory and undefeated at 3-0 in conference play and 13-7. After trailing 31-28 at the half, The Chargers managers to stay close in the second half. Trailing Riverside (8-10, 1-1) 47-42 at the 11:32 mark, Cypress went on a 7-0 run in the next 2 minutes to lead 49-47. Sam Soria hit the key free throws and the Chargers led 64-57 at the 2:13 mark and hang on to win 68-64 despite the Tigers' attempt to come back.

Jeana Magana produced a double-double of 13 points and 11 boards, while Kaitlyn Roche had a season high 18 points to lead all scorers.

Ladies came back from 13-point deficit to win in OT

Cypress, CA - On a night when things appeared to be bad for the Lady Chargers, good things happened when they refused to play dead. Fullerton (9-7, 0-1) led 25-23 at the intermission and pounded an 18-6 run to build a significant lead 4329 at the 12:17 mark. After a time-out, the Chargers (12-7, 2-0) responded with a 8-0 run of their own to worry the Hornets. However Fullerton continued to hold on to the lead deep in the game. With 1:48 to go, the Hornets led 53-49 after Irma Urzua got fouled on a 3-pointer and converted a 4-point play. Sam Soria (17 points) knocked down the free throws to lock the game at 55-55 with 0:30 but Fullerton was called with an illegal screen. The Chargers still had a final chance to win the game in regulation, but Jeana Magana missed a 3-point attempt. Sloan Turner came up big defensively with 8 blocks and 8 boards. Turner also added 15 points for the Chargers.

In the overtime period, the Chargers build a 4-point lead and maintain it toward the victory. At 2-0, Cypress ties in 1st place in the conference with Irvine Valley.

Lady Chargers dominated Santa Ana in conference opener 75-59

Cypress, CA - The Chargers came home fresh from a thrid place finish at the Grossmont tourney to take on the Santa Ana Dons. Jeana Magana scored 20-points in the first half to set up a 48-24 lead at the intermission which the Chargers never looked back. En route to a 75-59 victory over Santa Ana (8-9, 0-1) in the opener of conference play proved to be an important win for Cypress (11-7, 1-0) in the race to defend its league title.  Former Charger Berlin Ohanesian led the Dons with 22 points.
