Turner dominated as Chargers defeat American River to reach championship game

Turner's 17 pts, 16 boards,
8 blocks carried the
Chargers
Cypress, CA - Sophomore Sloan Turner single-handled the semifinal game against American River at the 29th Annual Lady Charger Classic.  Late in the first half, Turner was being elbowed in the face and had a deep cup under her right eye but that did not slowed her down. She came back with 17 points, 16 boards and 8 blocks to lead the Chargers (5-3) to a 61-55 victory over American River.  In a game that went seesaw for 40 minutes, the Chargers did not have an answer for Jackie Wada who poured in 20 points to lead the Beavers.

Chelsea Walton directed the team with 6 assists and 3 steals to key the Chargers on both sides of the ball. The Chargers are playing East Los Angeles in the championship game on Sunday.

Notes: this marked the third straight year that the Chargers met and defeat American River in the semifinal of the tournament... The Chargers blocked the ball 15 times in this game... The Chargers are advancing to the championships for 5 straight years... Last year the Chargers lost to East LA in the finals and have a shot at revenging against the Huskies this year...
